Eswatini’s court backs U.S. deportation deal, allowing continued deportations and $5.1M in funding.
Eswatini’s high court has dismissed a legal challenge to a 2025 agreement with the U.S. to accept third-country deportees, ruling the deal does not violate the constitution.
The court upheld the government’s authority to enter the pact without parliamentary approval, despite concerns over transparency and public disclosure.
Since July 2025, at least 15 individuals have been deported to Eswatini under the arrangement, which has provided $5.1 million in funding.
The ruling allows the program to continue without legal interference.
