With the release of Xcode 26.3, Apple introduced agentic coding, which enables AI agents from Anthropic and OpenAI to carry out intricate development tasks on their own inside the IDE. With the update, agents can use Xcode's tools, such as previews and iterative builds, to break down goals, navigate projects, change code, and validate changes. It offers developers flexibility in tool selection and supports the open Model Context Protocol, which enables integration with a variety of AI models. Members of the Apple Developer Program can now access the release as a release candidate, and a public App Store release is anticipated shortly.
