World Athletics rebukes Grand Slam Track’s 2026 plans amid $40M debt and unpaid athlete payments.
World Athletics has condemned Grand Slam Track for planning 2026 events while bankrupt and owing over $40 million in unpaid debts from its 2025 season, calling the move “unconscionable.” The federation insists it will not support or license future events until debts to athletes, vendors, and service providers are settled.
Among those owed money are Olympic champions Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, Gabby Thomas, and Marileidy Paulino, along with founder Michael Johnson, who is owed over $2 million.
The next bankruptcy court hearing is set for Wednesday.
