Tampa International Airport is accepting artist submissions for a $5.82 million public art project featuring eight new installations—six in the upcoming Airside D terminal and two at expanded security checkpoints in Airsides A and E. Submissions open Feb. 5 and close March 19 via the CaFÉ platform.
The selection process includes an initial review and a second phase where shortlisted artists receive a $4,000 stipend to develop detailed proposals.
Artists must have prior experience completing a commission or selling work for at least $15,000.
Airside D, part of a $1.5 billion expansion, is set to open in 2028 with 16 gates for domestic and international flights.
Security upgrades at Airsides A and E were completed in 2025.
The project marks one of the airport’s largest investments in public art to date, building on its existing collection of 16 artworks, including the iconic 21-foot pink flamingo sculpture Phoebe.
