Wayne Armstrong II, a substitute teacher at Washington Junior High in Washington, Indiana, was arrested on February 2, 2026, on charges of performing a sexual act in the presence of a minor and public indecency. The investigation began January 22 after a parent and student reported misconduct. School officials terminated his employment immediately. Police interviewed students, obtained a search warrant for Armstrong’s home, and sent evidence to the Knox County Cyber Crimes Unit. After review by the Daviess County Prosecutor’s Office, an arrest warrant was issued. Armstrong was taken into custody without incident and remains presumed innocent until proven guilty.
