Seventeen more former N.C. State male athletes have joined a state lawsuit accusing former sports medicine director Robert L. Murphy Jr. of sexual abuse and harassment from 2012 to 2022, raising the total to 31 plaintiffs.
The lawsuit, filed in Wake County Superior Court, alleges improper touching during massages, invasive drug testing, and forced exposure in locker rooms, with some athletes reporting trauma and physical distress.
Most plaintiffs are identified as “John Doe,” though two former men’s soccer players, including Benjamin Locke, are named.
The case also accuses university officials of negligence for failing to act despite awareness of concerns.
Murphy’s attorney denies all allegations, calling them baseless.
The university says it is reviewing the claims but is not commenting further.
