Sajeeb Wazed Joy, from India, demands boycott of Bangladesh’s Feb. 12 election, alleging rigging, extremism, and U.S. backing for BNP.
Sajeeb Wazed Joy, son of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has called for a boycott of the February 12 national election, alleging it is rigged and influenced by extremist groups.
Speaking from India, he claimed terrorists control the country, accused the government of suppressing opposition, and said votes would be manipulated.
He also claimed the U.S. supports BNP leader Tarique Rahman and predicted a BNP-Jamaat-e-Islami victory.
His remarks, unverified, come amid rising political tensions ahead of the vote.
