Peterborough has officially entered the UK City of Culture 2029 competition, aiming to overcome perceptions of being overlooked.
Led by the city council and supported by local organizations, the bid emphasizes community engagement, inclusivity, and celebration of the city’s history, diversity, and landscapes.
The city submitted an Expression of Interest to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, which could lead to a £60,000 grant for a full bid.
The winner will receive £10 million, with three runners-up getting £125,000 each.
