New Zealand is using radio tags on hornets to find 10 nests near Auckland, with no sightings beyond an 11km zone.

Radio tracking is helping New Zealand locate 10 yellow-legged hornet nests on Auckland’s North Shore, including three in trees, since the eradication effort began. Tiny transmitters attached to worker hornets have enabled rapid nest detection within hours, supported by over 1,080 traps and more than 11,000 public reports. No hornets have been detected beyond an 11km surveillance zone, and authorities continue to urge the public to report sightings via report.mpi.govt.nz or 0800 80 99 66 as summer increases activity.
