Nepal’s interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki, appointed in September 2025 after mass protests led to the resignation of former PM KP Sharma Oli, revealed that leaders of the September 2025 Gen-Z movement pressured her to appoint specific individuals, including Mahabir Pun and Kulman Ghising, to her interim cabinet.
Speaking in her first address to the National Assembly, she said the government, formed without party backing, faced strong demands from youth activists to include prominent Gen-Z figures, some of whom were allowed to leave if they chose to run in the upcoming March 5, 2026, elections.
