NAM1 denied 39 charges in court over Menzgold fraud, citing lost licenses, as investor deaths mount.
Nana Appiah Mensah, known as NAM1, appeared in Accra High Court on February 2, 2026, denying 39 charges including fraud, money laundering, and operating without a license related to the defunct Menzgold gold dealership.
He claimed his company, A2, was properly licensed by the Precious Minerals Marketing Company and later the Minerals Commission, though he could not produce physical licenses, citing the closure of Menzgold by the Securities and Exchange Commission and seizure of its offices by the Economic and Organised Crime Office.
The court ordered him to submit a witness statement by February 9, with the next hearing set for February 19.
Outside court, the convener of aggrieved investors reported nearly 300 deaths linked to investment losses and urged faster proceedings.
