Katie Uhlaender denied 2026 Winter Olympics spot after arbitration ruled it lacked jurisdiction to review her appeal.
Katie Uhlaender, a five-time Olympian, has been denied a spot in the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Games after the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled it lacked jurisdiction to review her appeal.
The decision, based on procedural timing, upholds the qualification results following a January 11 race in Lake Placid, where Uhlaender alleged Canada’s head coach Joe Cecchini intentionally withdrew four of six Canadian female sledders to reduce available points and undermine her chances.
She provided a recorded call with Cecchini suggesting the move was strategic.
While the U.S. Olympic Committee and international governing bodies found the actions intentional and unfair, aimed at protecting Canada’s Olympic quota, no sanctions were imposed.
Uhlaender expressed disappointment but said she continues to explore options.
