An Indian man petitions Delhi High Court for ₹100 crore and a probe into his wife’s death during a Nepal hotel attack, blaming failed evacuations and lack of consular aid.
A Delhi High Court petition has been filed by Rambir Singh Gola seeking ₹100 crore in compensation and a judicial inquiry into the death of his wife, Rajesh Gola, during violent unrest in Kathmandu, Nepal, on September 9, 2025.
The couple, on a religious pilgrimage, stayed at a five-star hotel that allegedly misled guests about safety, failed to activate alarms or evacuate, and abandoned the premises during a mob attack that set parts of the building on fire.
Despite repeated distress calls to Indian consular authorities, no emergency response was provided.
Attempting to escape using makeshift ropes, Rajesh Gola fell from the fourth floor, suffered severe injuries, and was reportedly denied timely medical care, with Nepalese authorities classifying the incident as a homicide.
The petition argues the Indian government and hotel management failed in their duty to protect her under Article 21 of the Constitution and demands accountability and systemic reforms.
