Illinois gives 1,000 Ring devices to survivors amid rising domestic violence homicides.
Illinois has distributed 1,000 Ring security devices to domestic violence survivors through a partnership between the state, Amazon, and the Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
The initiative, announced by Attorney General Kwame Raoul, aims to improve survivor safety by enabling remote monitoring and evidence collection, particularly amid a 140% rise in domestic violence homicides.
Amazon also donated $25,000 to support the cause.
The devices help document potential violations of protection orders and strengthen legal cases, with the state’s 78 domestic violence agencies receiving support.
Survivors can access help via the Illinois Domestic Violence Hotline or the Attorney General’s office.
