Georgia's House Bill 383 passes, letting high school athletes earn NIL money with contracts ending at graduation.
Georgia’s House Bill 383, the Georgia High School NIL Protection Act, has passed unanimously out of a House subcommittee, allowing high school athletes to earn money from their name, image, and likeness while requiring contracts to end upon graduation or departure from school.
Sponsored by Rep. Brent Cox, R-Dawsonville, the bill aims to prevent long-term deals that could bind minors without full understanding.
Though only about 100 high school athletes in Georgia currently have NIL deals—mostly involving free gear or small endorsements—lawmakers debate the potential cultural and ethical impacts of monetizing youth sports.
The bill now moves forward in the legislative process, where it may be amended or delayed.
