Former CNN anchor Don Lemon was arrested at his Los Angeles hotel by about a dozen federal agents last week despite his attorney informing authorities he would voluntarily surrender. Lemon, who was covering a January 18 protest at a Minnesota church, said agents detained him without showing a warrant until displaying it on a phone, held him at a federal courthouse for over 13 hours, and denied him immediate phone access. He maintained he was a journalist, not a protester, and plans to plead not guilty to federal civil rights charges tied to the protest, which involved allegations of conspiracy and interfering with First Amendment rights. The Department of Justice and FBI did not comment.
