Ethiopia projects 10.2% economic growth in 2025-26, driven by reforms, IMF-backed debt restructuring, and major infrastructure projects.
Ethiopia’s economy is projected to grow 10.2% in the 2025-26 fiscal year, up from an earlier forecast of 8.9%, according to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, citing strong performance in the first half of the year.
The growth follows ongoing economic reforms and a debt restructuring effort backed by an IMF loan program.
In January 2026, Abiy launched major projects including the Tulu Arara Model Village, Bishoftu International Airport, and the Aysha-II Wind Power Project.
He also advanced tourism, education, and infrastructure, hosted regional leaders, and signed agreements with China, the U.S., and the UK on investment and power transmission.
