A funeral procession for Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office Deputy Christopher Ohlmeyer, 41, who died on January 30, 2026, during an off-duty motorcycle escort on Airline Drive in New Orleans, will take place on Thursday, February 5, beginning at 2 p.m.
The route starts at the Jefferson Performing Arts Center, travels through Metairie, and ends at Garden of Memories cemetery.
Ohlmeyer was struck from behind by another vehicle while slowing during a funeral procession; the other driver was injured and hospitalized.
The New Orleans Police Department is investigating, but no charges have been filed.
Officials urge residents to wear blue and expect traffic delays until around 3:30 p.m. Ohlmeyer, a 14-year veteran and father of two, is remembered as a dedicated officer and family man.
A fundraiser has been launched for his family.
