A 12- to 14-year-old boy in Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria district is under investigation for allegedly trading family jewellery worth around ₹85 lakh for momos, according to police.
The boy, a class 7 student, reportedly befriended three men who ran a momo stall and was lured with free food, leading him to hand over gold ornaments over time.
The theft was discovered when a relative found the jewellery missing.
Police have filed an FIR, are reviewing CCTV footage, and searching for the suspects, while emphasizing the case involves exploitation of a child’s vulnerability.
The investigation is ongoing.
