A 25-year-old woman in northwestern Ontario has been charged with two counts of animal cruelty and two counts of breaching a court-ordered release condition after police found two boxer dogs left in an unheated vehicle for over two hours in near -18°C weather in Nipigon.
The incident, reported on February 1, 2026, followed a tip about a release order violation.
The dogs were unharmed and are now being cared for by a local resident.
The suspect was also found at a residence she was barred from visiting.
She was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in court.
