A new flood-resistant bridge on the Golden Highway is being built to improve safety and eliminate closures, opening later in 2026.
A new 28-meter bridge over Mudies Creek on the Golden Highway between Belford and Mount Thorley is under construction as part of a $133 million project.
Built five meters above current road level to resist a one-in-100-year flood, it will eliminate rain-related closures and improve safety for over 7,000 daily vehicles.
Five girders are already in place, with paving, barriers, and markings to follow.
The bridge, expected to open later in 2026, has created around 135 local jobs.
Temporary weekend closures in February will redirect light vehicles via Range Road and manage heavy vehicles through the site, with local access and pedestrian routes maintained.
