Joni Mitchell, 82, won the 2026 Grammy for Best Historical Album for *Volume 4: The Asylum Years*, a box set of unreleased recordings from 1976 to 1980, marking her first public appearance in years.
She accepted the award wearing a sequined pantsuit and an "Ice Out" button, a protest symbol against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
In her brief speech, she reflected on creative struggles with her label during the 1970s, including resistance to her musical direction and a rejected donkey-themed album cover.
Other Canadian winners included producer Henry Walter (Cirkut) for Producer of the Year and Best Dance Pop Recording for Lady Gaga’s “Abracadabra,” and Justin Gray, the first Canadian to win Best Immersive Audio Album for “Immersed.” The ceremony also featured tributes to Brian Wilson and Bob Weir.
