India's Supreme Court grants bail to former Punjab MLA Bikram Singh Majithia in a ₹540 crore assets case.
The Supreme Court of India has granted bail to Bikram Singh Majithia, a former Punjab MLA and Shiromani Akali Dal leader, in a disproportionate assets case.
The court, comprising Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta, overturned a prior denial by the Punjab and Haryana High Court, allowing Majithia’s release after seven months in custody.
The case, linked to alleged unexplained assets worth over ₹540 crore from 2006 to 2017, was filed in 2025.
The Supreme Court noted Majithia’s prior bail in an NDPS case and no evidence of investigation interference.
The probe stems from a 2021 drug-related investigation.
