Ghana launches Women’s Bank and Sheapark Hub to empower northern female shea entrepreneurs with microcredits and infrastructure.
Ghana is advancing plans for a Women’s Bank to support female entrepreneurs, especially in northern regions where the shea industry is vital.
Led by Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the bank will offer seasonal microcredits and support cooperatives with transport and protective gear.
The Sheapark Resource Hub in Wa, launching as a sustainable agro-industrial center, will process shea and other crops, create jobs, and empower over 7,000 women.
The 2026 budget allocates 401 million cedis for the initiative, building on a 51.3 million cedis seed fund.
The project aligns with the government’s Reset Agenda to boost value-added exports.
