Former NRL player Josh McGuire, 35, appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court on February 2, 2026, facing charges of common assault and strangulation involving a child.
Arrested in December 2025, McGuire, who played for the Broncos, Cowboys, and Dragons and represented Queensland in 14 State of Origin games, remains on bail.
His lawyer, Emma Kearney, said critical prosecution evidence had not been disclosed, hindering legal preparation.
The court ordered the prosecution to provide the evidence by February 9 and adjourned the case to February 16.
