Chicago surgeon charged in Ohio killings of ex-wife and her partner, linked by abuse, surveillance, and weapons.
Michael McKee, a Chicago vascular surgeon, has been charged with aggravated murder and aggravated burglary with a firearm suppressor in the December 30, 2025, killings of Monique and Spencer Tepe in Columbus, Ohio.
A newly unsealed affidavit details a history of abuse and stalking, including threats to kill Monique and surveillance placing McKee near the couple’s home before and during the murders.
A silver SUV with stolen plates linked to McKee was found at the hospital where he worked, bearing damage consistent with a removed sticker.
Investigators recovered multiple weapons from his property, one allegedly connected to the killings through ballistics.
McKee, who divorced Monique in 2017, was arrested January 10, 2026, after being found at the hospital with his phone left behind and inactive for about 17 hours around the time of the murders.
He has pleaded not guilty, and the case is being treated as domestic violence-related.
