Capgemini sells its U.S. unit over ethics concerns linked to its ICE contract after public backlash.
French technology company Capgemini announced on February 1, 2026, that it will sell its U.S. subsidiary, Capgemini Government Solutions (CGS), amid international criticism over CGS’s contract with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The decision follows scrutiny after two U.S. citizens were fatally shot during an ICE operation in Minneapolis, sparking protests and calls for transparency from French officials, including Finance Minister Roland Lescure.
Capgemini stated that U.S. legal restrictions on classified federal contracts prevented it from maintaining adequate oversight of CGS, undermining alignment with its corporate values.
The subsidiary, which provided services including skip-tracing to locate individuals, accounted for 0.4% of Capgemini’s 2025 global revenue.
The company confirmed it only recently learned of the contract’s nature through public reports and will begin the divestiture process immediately.
