Actor Neena Gupta, reflecting on her 1982 debut in 'Saath Saath,' said the film typecast her as a comic side character, limiting her chances for lead roles. Veteran filmmaker Girish Karnad reportedly told her at the premiere she'd never get heroine roles, a prediction that largely held true for years. Despite early setbacks, Gupta gained widespread recognition with her 2018 role in 'Badhaai Ho' and is now set to star in the upcoming thriller 'Vadh 2,' releasing February 6, 2026.
