Chuck Lefley, a two-time Stanley Cup champion with the Montreal Canadiens, has died at 76 in Grosse Isle, Manitoba.
Drafted sixth overall in 1970, he played key roles in the Canadiens’ 1971 and 1973 titles, scoring 45 goals and recording 60 assists in 174 regular-season games and adding three goals and six assists in 24 playoff games.
After being traded to the St. Louis Blues in 1974, he had a standout 1975–76 season with 43 goals and 85 points.
Over his NHL career, he totaled 292 points in 407 games.
Born in Winnipeg and raised in Grosse Isle, he remained a respected community figure and mentor after retiring.
