Orono’s Clara White and Fort Kent’s Alden Reardon won the girls’ and boys’ 5K Nordic races at the Sassi Memorial in Rumford on Saturday, posting the fastest times despite frigid temperatures in the low teens.
White, a senior, finished in 15:26.1, with Gould Academy’s Mallory Raymond and Grace Scott second and third.
Reardon, also a senior and a previous Class C champion, clocked 14:08.1, edging out Yarmouth’s Leif Hellstedt and Xander Gordon.
Both athletes praised the snow and course conditions, calling the weather ideal for racing.
The event, delayed due to cold, drew 112 skiers.
