Former Maryland men's basketball coach Mark Turgeon, 61, is set to become the new head coach at Kansas City in the Summit League, according to multiple reports.
A native of Topeka, Kansas, Turgeon played point guard at Kansas in the mid-1980s and has a career record of 476-275 with 10 NCAA Tournament appearances.
He coached at Jacksonville State, Wichita State, Texas A&M, and Maryland from 2011 to 2021, leaving by mutual agreement in December 2021.
Kansas City announced on January 12 that current head coach Marvin Menzies will finish the season but won’t return.
The Roos are 4-17 overall and 1-7 in conference play, with one Division I win this season, and are set to face St. Thomas, who is 17-6 and 6-2 in league play.
