Marine Corps vet Joshua Elliot, double amputee from Afghanistan, gets free accessible home in Loon Lake from Homes for Our Troops.
Marine Corps veteran Joshua Elliot, who lost both legs in an Afghanistan IED explosion in 2011, will receive a free adaptive home from Homes for Our Troops.
The nonprofit, which has built nearly 500 homes since 2004, will construct the accessible home in Loon Lake with features like automatic doors and wider hallways.
About 100 people attended a community event at Loon Lake Elementary to mark the project’s start, with the home expected to be completed by late spring.
The organization is currently building six homes in Washington state.
