Air India has resumed non-stop flights between Shanghai and New Delhi, marking the return of the route after nearly six years of suspension due to the pandemic and a border standoff.
The inaugural flight, operated by a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner carrying over 230 passengers, departed Shanghai Pudong International Airport on February 1, 2026.
The service will run four times weekly, supporting trade, tourism, academic exchange, and cultural ties, especially with China’s Yangtze River Delta region.
Consul General Pratik Mathur attended the ceremony, calling the resumption a significant step in restoring bilateral connectivity and cooperation.
