A Wisconsin surgeon, Calvin Eriksen, was sentenced to six years in prison for distributing child sexual abuse material, following a federal investigation triggered by cybertips to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Authorities found CSAM on devices linked to the messaging app Kik, including images of infant and toddler abuse, and discovered Eriksen had engaged in online conversations with an undercover officer posing as a parent, expressing a desire to assault an 8-year-old.
He previously pleaded guilty to coercing a person in the Philippines to record abuse of a 13-year-old.
Eriksen also filed over a dozen false police reports, causing school lockdowns across Wisconsin.
U.S. District Judge Brett Ludwig ordered seven years of supervised release after prison, and U.S. Attorney Brad D. Schimel affirmed the justice system’s commitment to protecting children.
