A three-alarm fire erupted Friday afternoon at a vacant two-story building on Saratoga Avenue in San Jose, prompting defensive firefighting efforts, traffic closures, and widespread concern.
The blaze, which began around 4:56 p.m., caused the roof to collapse and disrupted nearby roads, including portions of Lawrence Expressway.
No injuries were reported, but the cause remains under investigation.
The incident occurred on the same day a woman died in a separate garage fire in Redwood City, where two others escaped unharmed.
