Rutledge Deas IV, 35, of Lafayette, Louisiana, has been arrested for the third time on human trafficking charges after allegedly posing as a person with special needs to deceive caregivers into providing infant-level care, including diaper changes.
Authorities say he used online platforms to recruit a victim, then directed them to a residence where he pretended to require constant assistance.
The arrest follows similar incidents in 2019 and 2021, with investigators warning additional victims may exist.
Deas is held at the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center, and the Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit continues its investigation.
