Poland buys $4.16B anti-drone system to boost eastern border defenses.
Poland has signed a 15 billion zloty (about $4.16 billion) contract to acquire the SAN anti-drone system, a multi-layered air defense solution developed by a Polish-Norwegian consortium.
The system, designed to counter unmanned aerial vehicles, will include 18 batteries and over 700 vehicles with radar, jamming, missiles, and machine guns.
Expected to be operational within two years, it will integrate with existing Polish air defenses, enhancing capabilities along the country’s eastern border.
The deal, backed by Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, reflects Poland’s broader military modernization amid growing aerial threats.
