The NSPCC launches Baby Steps in the South West to support new parents, addressing rising child referrals and boosting parental confidence.
The NSPCC has launched its redeveloped Baby Steps programme, a perinatal support service, in the South West through a regional hub to help new parents with practical and emotional support during the first months of a baby’s life.
The initiative, unveiled at a London event attended by HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh, aims to boost parental confidence amid rising pressures, highlighted by over 3,800 children under two being referred to external agencies in 2024/25—18% of all referrals.
The service is part of a broader effort to strengthen early childhood support, with resources available online and helpline access for immediate assistance.
