A judge fined Cardi B's accuser's attorney $1,500 for asking about gang ties during trial, violating a court order.
Four months after a Los Angeles jury cleared Cardi B in a 2018 assault case, Judge Ian C. Fusselman fined her former accuser’s attorney, Ron A. Rosen Janfaza, $1,500 for violating a court order by asking her about current gang affiliations during trial.
The judge ruled the question was a deliberate attempt to circumvent prior restrictions, rejecting claims of oversight or sleep deprivation.
The fine, due by February 27, must be reported to the California State Bar.
The case, which began in 2020, stemmed from a confrontation outside a Beverly Hills medical office where Cardi denied assaulting security guard Emani Ellis, saying she was defending herself from unauthorized filming.
Her viral courtroom remarks, including her response about being pregnant, drew widespread attention.
After the verdict, Cardi vowed to countersue in future frivolous lawsuits.
