India’s Republic Day tableau honoring "Vande Mataram" won top prize for its tribute to the national song’s 150-year legacy in uniting the nation.
India’s Ministry of Culture won first prize for its Republic Day 2026 tableau, "Vande Mataram - 150 Years Journey," which celebrated the patriotic song’s role in the freedom struggle and national unity.
The accompanying cultural presentation, "Vande Mataram: The Eternal Resonance of Bharat," received a Special Prize for artistic excellence.
Featuring 2,500 artists from all states and union territories, the performance showcased classical, folk, and tribal art forms, with music by Oscar winner MM Keeravani, lyrics by Subhas Sehgal, voice-over by Anupam Kher, choreography by Santosh Nair, and costumes by Sandhya Raman.
It traced India’s journey from spiritual roots through independence to military valor, using Sanskrit mantras, music, and dynamic formations to highlight the song’s enduring legacy in shaping national identity.
