Georgia state Rep. Dexter Sharper, a Democrat from Valdosta, has been charged with fraud for allegedly collecting $13,825 in pandemic unemployment benefits by falsely claiming to be unemployed while earning income from his legislative role, a party rental business, and freelance music work.
Prosecutors say he submitted 38 false weekly certifications.
