Twenty-seven Missouri teachers split a $50,000 Powerball prize after matching four white balls.
Twenty-seven Kansas City-area teachers won $50,000 in the Powerball lottery after matching four of five white-ball numbers on a ticket purchased at a Casey’s in Blue Springs, Missouri, for the December 20 drawing.
The group, which plays together when jackpots are high, split the prize evenly, receiving about $1,851 each.
Though they missed the $1.5 billion jackpot, the win was described as surprising and overwhelming.
Powerball drawings occur on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, with the next drawing on January 31 featuring an estimated jackpot of $57 million.
