Trumps sue IRS and Treasury over 2019–2020 leak of their tax returns, blaming negligence.
In a $10 billion lawsuit against the IRS and Treasury Department, Donald Trump, his sons Donald Jr. and Eric Trump, and the Trump Organization claim the government neglected to safeguard their tax records, which were exposed in 2019 and 2020 by former IRS contractor Charles Littlejohn.
Littlejohn, who is incarcerated for five years after entering a guilty plea to unauthorized disclosure, acknowledged giving ProPublica private information and Trump's tax returns to The New York Times.
The lawsuit accuses federal agencies of failing to protect sensitive taxpayer information and asserts that the leak caused serious financial and reputational harm.
No court date has been set, and neither Treasury nor the IRS have commented.
