Rutgers and Axia expand midwifery training across NJ and PA to boost maternal care access.
Rutgers School of Nursing and Axia Women's Health have formed a partnership to expand clinical training for nurse-midwifery students across 100+ locations in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
The collaboration aims to address the growing need for midwifery care by providing students with hands-on experience in obstetrics, gynecology, and maternal-fetal medicine.
With midwives attending 12% of U.S. births and a projected physician shortage of 86,000 by 2036, the program supports improved maternal health outcomes and access to care.
The initiative is already placing students in Axia facilities and plans to scale up to meet rising demand.
