On January 30, 2026, Coeur d'Alene police safely disposed of about six pounds of electronic blasting caps found in a basement safe during a demolition project on East Lakeside Avenue. The discovery, made around 12:15 p.m., prompted evacuations, street closures, and a safety hold at nearby Ramsey Elementary School.
