A Ni-Vanuatu man on a New Zealand work visa pleads not guilty to murdering a fellow tourist worker at a Hawke’s Bay orchard.
A 50-year-old Ni-Vanuatu man, working under New Zealand’s RSE visa, has pleaded not guilty to the murder of a female Ni-Vanuatu tourist found dead on January 1 at Cameron Orchards in Pukehina.
The victim and accused, both on tourist visas, were employed at the orchard.
Police upgraded the charge from assault to murder after investigation.
Less than 12 hours after the woman’s death, another RSE worker, Adam Nauka, was found dead on site; authorities confirmed his death was due to a medical issue.
The accused, granted interim name suppression, is set to appear in the High Court on February 18.
