Ghana’s poultry project has processed over 100,000 birds since Dec. 2025, aiming to cut chicken imports and produce 80 million birds by end-2026.
Ghana’s National Broiler Project, part of the Nkoko Nkitinkiti Initiative, has processed over 100,000 poultry birds since December 2025 across three companies, with plans to process 18 million birds in 2026.
The project, aimed at reducing Ghana’s annual 400,000-tonne chicken import dependency, is scaling up to 300,000 birds weekly across three shifts to support a 24-hour economy.
Aglow Farms, a key participant, is expanding output and workforce, while cold storage and a deferred payment marketing system are being developed.
The initiative supports farmers, creates jobs, and targets 80 million locally produced birds by end-2026.
