A Dublin man sentenced to two years in prison stole 371 electronics from his employer and sold them, admitting to taking around 200 items.
Magdi Ba, 45, was sentenced to two years in prison for stealing 371 electronic devices worth over €129,000 from his employer, DID Electrical, between 2017 and 2021.
The items, including phones, laptops, and smartwatches, were taken from a Dublin warehouse and sold to a CEX store, where sales records matched the stolen inventory.
Garda investigations, including CCTV footage, bank records, and a home search, confirmed the thefts, with Ba receiving €60,009 from the sales.
He admitted to taking around 200 items, initially claiming they came from a returns box.
Judge Orla Crowe called the crime a prolonged breach of trust, resulting in the forfeiture of €67,000 and Ba’s car.
