Bangladesh has been elected Vice-Chair of the United Nations Peacebuilding Commission for 2026, joining Morocco, Germany, Brazil, and Croatia in the bureau.
The announcement was made during the PBC’s 20th session at UN Headquarters in New York.
Bangladesh, a founding member since 2005, previously served as Chair in 2012 and 2022 and as Vice-Chair in 2013 and 2023.
The country assumed the role in a ceremony attended by top UN officials who underscored the PBC’s importance in supporting post-conflict recovery and preventing violence.
The commission advises on peacebuilding efforts in vulnerable nations.
