A young seal rescued in West Vancouver after weeks in a gillnet is recovering and eating on her own.
A young harbour seal named Annette, rescued in West Vancouver after being entangled in a gillnet for weeks, is recovering at the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Mammal Rescue Society. The net caused a deep wound but spared vital structures, leaving her severely underweight and unable to feed. After receiving antibiotics, pain relief, and wound care, she is now eating fish independently and swimming actively. Still thin and reliant on warmth, she is expected to remain in care for four to six more weeks before release.
